Ololo Safari Lodge and Farm
On the southern boundary of Nairobi National Park, along the Mbagathi River, with its own private park gate
Overview
Ololo Safari Lodge and Farm is the standout place to stay on Nairobi National Park, and the property most guests build their whole trip around. It occupies a restored 1930s colonial farmstead on the Mbagathi River, which forms the park's southern boundary — the river bank is the park, and game moves along it all day.
The lodge has its own private gate directly into Nairobi National Park, so morning game drives start within minutes rather than after a slow crawl through Nairobi traffic. That single detail transforms the experience: you are in the park at first light while day visitors are still queuing at the Main Gate.
Alongside the safari side, Ololo is a genuine working farm. Vegetables, herbs, eggs, honey and dairy come from the land around you, the horses are ridden out on the Kitengela plains, and the kitchen has built a reputation that draws Nairobi residents out for lunch on its own merit.
Rooms are individual and characterful rather than uniform — stables converted into suites, riverside cottages and tented rooms under trees — which makes it work equally well for couples, families and small groups taking the whole place.
